There are still people who keep promises.
Still at this Pinterest challenge deal. Today’s prompt is my favorite quote. I have many books I love because they are so beautifully quotable. My favorite quote actually comes from my favorite book, A Wind in the Door by Madeleine L’Engle.
“There are still stars which move in ordered and beautiful rhythm. There are still people in this world who keep promises.”
― Madeleine L’Engle, A Wind in the Door
The story of A Wind in the Door is a complex one, much like the other books in the Time Quintet. Though books in this series are meant to be read in Middle school, they cover fantastic subjects like physics, time travel, mitochondria, and the power of one’s true self.
In the above quote, my favorite quote, a beloved character is explaining to the mother of the Murrey family that while she is busy and often distracted she is still a good mother. She is dedicated to both her work to progress science and solve the mysteries of the world, but also makes sure her children are fed and loved.
The world has become bleak for Mrs.Murrey in A Wind in the Door because it is vaguely clear that something is coming, something bad, and her husband is once again not in the picture because of their work. She feels the weight of all of her worries, but Dr. Louise reminds her that there is still good in the world and the greater, unfathomable puzzle of the universe isn’t all scary. There is beauty and good in its pieces too, like the stars that still glow. Things that happen can still happen for good.
