My 5 Senses

My five senses right now, a prompt from Pinterest.

This picture is a different time and a different drink at the same cafe.

I taste the bittersweetness of my first ever Dirty Snowball, warm and frothy.

I feel the chill of winter in the plastic of this chair against the small of my back; just enough through my sweater to keep me alert and shifting.

I smell the last of the days coffee pours and the steamed milk as the espresso machine sighs from a long day. Its last latte at last.

I hear the ping of a man’s phone at the end of the bar and wonder if I'm the only millennial who has no clue what their phone sounds like due to its perpetual state of vibrate only.

I wonder if he's making weekend plans, the rapid-fire messages from a hyped friend.

I see rays of the sun that sneak past my edges and bathe the wood of the countertop in light. They mix and glow like a honey-kissed tea.
