Excited to promote a group project I get to work on. We are collecting non-fiction pieces written on COVID-19 experiences to create an anthology.

We are looking for nonfiction pieces (max of 2,000 words) written within the prompts below. This could be an essay, a memoir, poetry, expository, creative-nonfiction, etc.

Our goal is to curate an anthology of COVID-19 experiences, as well as provide a creative and emotional outlet. This is a time for expression! We are experiencing something that really hasn’t hit the US at this magnitude since the Spanish Flu or Influenza. This is an important (though terrible) time and we should create art to express and preserve its effects on our society, families, hearts, and minds.

We will be accepting submissions until June 15th 2020. You can submit using this link. Anyone living in the United States may submit to this anthology. We are accepting work from all ages.

Here are the writing prompts!

  1. Most of us remember 9/11 and how for years after it was very popular to say “Where were you when the twin towers fell?” and “Do you remember?”. We want to know where you were when it became clear COVID-19 was going to change your life. When did you know “the shift” had begun? What were you doing? Paint the picture for us and take us through your emotions.
  2. The haven or hole. Paint a picture of your life since quarantine began. It can be an overall summary or a moment in time. Are you spending more time with your family and happy for the time? Do you feel trapped, isolated?
